Departments

The structure of the Center (2 departments) corresponds to research disciplines:

Department of Fine Arts
Department of Stage; Screen Arts (Music, Choreography, Theater and Cinema)
A Library as a separate unit.

Department of Fine Arts

Section of Mediaeval Arts
Section of Renaissance and Independence Period Arts
Section of Contemporary Arts from 1945 on.

The main lines of the work are:

• Research in the history of the Albanian Fine Arts from Middle Ages to the present day with an emphasis on the XX Century Art.
  
• Doing documentary work in the field of both Albanian Renaissance and Contemporary Arts.
  
• Write out monographs and scientific papers on the contribution of the most prominent Albanian artists.
  
• Collaborate with similar research university level institutions or departments, especially with the National Gallery of Fine Arts in terms of research and publications.
  
• Since its first days now in the Department researches have been carried out on various fields, the result of which were monographs on Albanian Renaissance, Albanian mural painting, symbols in the Mediaeval Arts, Albanian artists of Diaspora. 

At present research concentrates on monographs dedicated to several artists of the Albanian Renaissance and to two among the Contemporary artists.

The main lines of work in the Department are:

• carry research on the history and present-day developments in the above-mentioned fields;
  
• write studies in the form of monographs, scientific papers, essays;
  
• collaborate with art institutions and organizations in the country, in terms of archives and documentation, and with participation in symposiums, conferences, etc.;
  
• maintain relations and collaborate with researchers and institutions engaged in studies on art abroad in general, with an emphasis on exchange and training; and with those of Albanian Diaspora, in particular;
  
• contribute with publications in the form of monographs and essays;
  
• contribute with the respective sections for the Albanian Encyclopedic Dictionary

In the Department, research actually concentrates on the items linked with the history of Albanian music, theater, and cinema, with overall synthetic studies, on studies on single or a group of works or artists. Monographs on separate theater directors and actors, and analytical studies is the main line of theater research. In view of a survey of the history of the Albanian cinema, relations between cinema and literature, society and time in film, history and war on the screen are among the main lines of research. In the field of music, researches are being carried mainly both on the post-war inheritance and recent developments in the '90-s.
