This department is composed of two sections.
Section of air quality
Section of water quality
SECTION OF AIR QUALITY.
This section is newly established and deals with monitoring of air quality.
The tasks of this section are:
- Monitoring of several parameters of air pollutants such as SO2, deposited matter, some elements of rainfall chemistry, atmosphere turbidity.
- The analysis of these parameters closely connected to meteorological elements
The specialists have this scientific activity during the three years (since the establishment):
- Participation on scientific projects in collaboration with Albanian and foreign institutions;
- scientific papers in Albanian journals
- participation on scientific national and international activities
- trainings in Foreign Institutes (University of Reading, METEOFRANCE, etc.)
Possibilities for cooperation:
Studies on assessment of emissions, transport and reduction of the air pollutants.
Staff : 2 meteorologist ( Prof.Dr;. Dr.) and one chemist
SECTION OF WATER QUALITY.
The main duties of this section are:
 Monitoring of water quality that consists in:
- Physico-chemical analysis of the water samples.
- Chemical analysis (several indicators as dissolved oxygen, biological and chemical oxygen demands, different forms of nitrogen and phosphorus and some metallic ions).
The specialists have this scientific activity during
the three years
- Participation on many scientific projects in collaboration with Albanian and foreign
institutions
- scientific papers in Albanian journals
- participation on scientific national and international activities.
- The staff of the Sector is qualified in the study of eutrophication of the lake and sea
Possibilities for cooperation:
The sector offers the collaboration in the field of monitoring of quality of rivers, lakes and sea water.
Staff: 2 researcher ( Assoc. Prof. Dr., Dr ) and 2 chemists
Technical Laboratory
Main duties of the Technical Laboratory consist in
- control, maintenance and calibration of the meteorological and hydrological apparatuses such as thermo-, hydro-, pluvio- and limnygraphs
- modernization of the hydrometeorological network.
Staff: 1 researcher ( Assoc. Prof. Dr.) and 1 engineer
