After the democratic changes this department has reconsidered and re-evaluated its scientific activity. The reasons were:
- Because of the declassification of the numerous file documents for the period following the Second World War
- Because of the liberation of the historiography from the political pressures of the communist state during the period after the Second World War.

The relations of the National-Liberation Anti-Fascist Movement of the Albanian People with the Anti-Fascist Movements of the neighbouring peoples

The anticommunist resistance and the political war in the years 1944-1948
The institutionalization of the one-party political system
The limitation and liquidation of the proprietorship in the village by means of the Land Reform
The development of education and its light-and-shades
The ideologization of the country`s life
The principal figures of the NLAW
The stand of the communist state towards the religion
